**Off-page SEO refers to actions taken outside of your own martial art or fitness website to impact your rankings within search engine results pages (SERPs). ____**

*Why does Off-page SEO matter*?

While search algorithms and ranking factors are constantly changing, the relevance, trustworthiness, and authority that effective off-page SEO affords a website still plays a major role in a pages ability to rank__

__ *We dont know the full algorithm Google uses to rank content, but studies show that off-page SEO-related factors likely carry more than 50% of the ranking factor weight. *__

This means you need to make sure that you are implementing both strategies__

BASIC OFF-PAGE ELEMENTS TO SEO:
 Social signals
 GMB & Local signals
NAPU consistency across all directories & listings on the web
Quality backlinks (which send positive signals to search engine crawlers, telling them the linked-to website is valuable, useful, and a result searchers would be happy to find)
AS WELL AS OTHER OUTSIDE FACTORS, such as
Domain age, history, & authority (that can affect the performance of a site & its overall search visibility)

**__ QUALITY BACKLINKS__**
Get local links by giving to the community:
 Get involved with local communities.
Reach out to relevant local bloggers, influencers, etc.
 Sponsor local events.
 Publish local press releases.
You can also get quality links by posting blogs on social media!

**__ NAPU CONSISTENCY__**
At a minimum, every local business should have business profiles with consistent & accurate business information set up for:
 Google My Business
 Facebook
 Any other relevant directories

**__ SOCIAL SIGNALS__**
Continued social media content & engagement (on Facebook, IG, etc.) is a great way to** add value** for existing clientele and potential prospects, as well as prove brand authority and establish trust with Google.
The internet is a crowded place. To stand out, you need to build a strong, authentic, and engaged brand presence.
Posting on social media regularly provides Google with external validation of your website/businesss value!

**__ GMB & LOCAL SIGNALS__**
Google determines local ranking via relevance, distance, and prominence.
Relevance refers to the completion of your Google My Business profile. You can influence Relevance.
Distance is just how it sounds. You cant influence the distance from someone searching for your service.
Prominence refers to how well-known a local business/entity is. You can absolutely influence Prominence (ie. reviews).

To improve your businesss local ranking, use Google My Business to claim and update your business information

To maximize how often users find your business in local search results, ensure that your business information in Google My Business is accurate, complete, and engaging.
